Prayers From The Pit

I remember clear as day the first time I heard that God could take me out of my “pit,” the place where I was hurting and filled with fear.  It was many years ago when I was first starting to learn about God.  I was watching a message on TV from Pastor Ed Young at Fellowship Church , it was about climbing out of the pit (a place of trouble, a place of trials and suffering in life, difficult times). It was such a powerful moment in my new life with Jesus because it was the first time I learned Jesus will pull me out of my troubles!!!  The message was based on Psalm 40: 2-4

Psalm 40:2-4

He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.

God WILL and CAN pull you our of your mess and set you on solid ground.  He will do things in your life that ONLY GOD can do! I came across these prayers from Beth Moore that encouraged me and I hope they can encourage you too!  Print this out and keep it with you and share it!  Let’s beat the enemy and use the power of prayer to lift us up and get us out of the pit!

Get Out of That Pit Scripture Prayers

by Beth Moore, author of Get Out of That Pit

Cry Out

I call to You, Lord, who are worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. The waves of death swirl about me; the torrents of destruction overwhelm me. The cords of the grave coil around me; the snares of death confront me. In my distress I call to You, Lord; I call out to my God. From Your temple You hear my voice; my cry comes to Your ears. — 2 Samuel 22:4-7

O, my Strength, come quickly to help me. — Psalm 22:19b

Reach down from on high and take hold of me; draw me out of deep waters. Rescue me from my powerful enemy and from foes, who are too strong for me. — Psalm 18:16-17

Bring me out into a spacious place; rescue me, Lord, because You delight in me. — Psalm 18:19

Confess

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. — Psalm 139:23-24

When applicable…

Father, I want to acknowledge my sin to You. I don’t want to cover it up. I will confess my transgressions to You, Lord, and You will forgive the guilt of my sin. — Psalm 32:5

I confess that You are my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; You are my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. You are my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior — save me from anything that seeks to destroy me. — 2 Samuel 22:2-3

Consent

You are my lamp, O Lord; You turn my darkness into light. With Your help I can advance against a troop; with You I can scale a wall. As for You, my Father, Your way is perfect; Your Word is flawless. You are a shield for all who take refuge in You. For who is God besides You? And who is the Rock except You? — 2 Samuel 22:29-32

If You are for me, who can be against me? You did not spare Your own Son but gave Him up for me. How will You not also, along with Him, graciously give me all things? — Romans 8:31-32

You know the plans You have for me, O God. Plans to prosper me and not to harm me. Plans to give me a hope and a future. — Jeremiah 29:11

Thank You, God, for Your willingness to lead me to triumph. — 2 Corinthians 2:14
