Heard On-Air

A pit bull named Leo was adopted by Tina when her son brought him home as a puppy. At the time, he was too young to have been separated from his mom, so to be sure that he got the nutrition he needed, Tina bottle fed him. As you can imagine, that made the two of them very close, and as Leo grew up, he was so bonded to Tina that they did everything together.

When Leo was older, he made friends with Katie Newhouser, the UPS driver in his neighborhood. She says that when he heard her truck coming, he'd start barking and scratching at the front door until Tina let him out so that he could crawl in the back of the truck and do his own little personal inspection of the packages Katie was carrying.

Recently, Katie learned through Facebook that Tina had passed away suddenly, and the search was on to find Leo a new home. Even though she already has three dogs of her own, she knew she couldn't let Leo go to someone he wasn't familiar with after his devastating loss, so she agreed to adopt him.

Katie says that it did take a little bit of adjustment for the whole household, but that Leo gets along great with her other dogs and loves being as close to her as possible.
