Adding Exercise to Your Work Day

Let's face it, a lot of us sit at our desks all day long. I used to get involved in FitBit challenges with my friends but a lot of them are teachers who walk around their classrooms all day! Meanwhile, I sit at a desk here at Star 99.1 behind either a computer or a mic. Lots and lots of sitting. 

So how do those of us that sit in a desk all day get those extra steps in? I have some tips!

  • Use the farthest bathroom from your desk (preferably down or upstairs)
  • Run in place while waiting for the microwave
  • Walk to your coworker's desk instead of calling 
  • Use half of your lunch to do a lap around the building
  • Invest in a standing desk
  • Or invest in an under the desk bike (I have one! It's so fun!)
  • Do chair dips in between emails to strengthen your arms
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator
  • Do 5 minutes of walking every hour
  • Stretch! 

Just a few simple tricks to get a little extra exercise in our work days!
