Doll Maker Creates Dolls With Rare Skin Condition

Kay Black is a jewelry designer and hair stylist, but she’s fast becoming known for her unique, custom-made dolls. She grabs older dolls from secondhand stores and then redesigns them.

Her most popular dolls have been the ones she’s created that have vitiligo, which is where patches of skin begin to lose its pigment. Kay wanted to make these dolls for kids who have this so that they learn to love the unique skin that they’re in. She had no idea it was going to be such a hit, and she’s since begin to create dolls with albinism.
