These girls are AWESOME!!!

Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Council Troops 50010, 50224, 50247, 50278, & 50427 worked with Just B.E. to create sock blessing bags for the homeless of Ocean County during a Code Blue alert starting December 1st. Just B.E. is a nonprofit organization providing Basic Essentials to the needy and homeless of NJ. This organization is lead by a board of women and is located here in Ocean County. A Code Blue alert is declared whenever temperatures drop below the freezing point and weather conditions pose a danger to the homeless population. The Code Blue alert allows authorities to take homeless people to local shelters or other agencies, known as Warming Centers. There are various designated Warming Centers throughout Ocean County that Just B.E. assists.

This was large service project. The Troops collected well over 500 toiletry items and created 100 sock blessing bags to be given out to homeless individuals the first night they stay with Code Blue.

Items collected for Sock Blessing Bags:
travel size toothpastes
soap bars
deodorant sticks for women
small packs of baby wipes
packs of gum

5 troops came together to make an impact this winter. 5 troops collected well over 500 toiletries. 5 troops made 100 first night bags to be given to Just B.E. to bring to Code Blue this winter. 5 troops are making the world a little brighter for the homeless in Ocean County. This was a great service project for our area. We are extremely proud of these Girl Scouts and their families for the hard work and dedication they put into this Giving Tuesday project. This is truly an example of volunteering at its best!
