An Austin, TX police officer went above and beyond for a teenager he found stuck on the side of the road recently.

Jason Borne was on a call to help a stranded motorist this past Tuesday when he found an 18-year-old boy who had been on the way to school when his two front tires blew out. Officer Borne not only had the boy’s car towed to a local shop, but he and his partner Tommy Sawin split the cost of two new front tires for the car. Then, they gave him a case number so that he could use it as a tardy excuse when he got to school. Beyond that, the two officers raised some more money to help the student fix his car’s alignment issues. They plan to take care of that for him while he’s in school next week, and if donations keep coming in, they’ll also fix his unrepaired collision damage.

Officer Borne said, “I have three kids. I wouldn’t send my own kids down the road with tires in his shape and I wasn’t going to send somebody else’s.”
