Santa Thanks WWII Veteran on Bended Knee

December 12, 2018 | Mysti Jordan

It’s not uncommon to see Santa in the mall this time of year, but there’s one particularly sweet moment that played out at one recently, between Santa and a veteran. A woman named Gina caught a picture of Santa leaving the children who were waiting to see him for a brief moment so he could speak to a World War II veteran named Bob who was sitting on a nearby bench. As he walked up to Bob, Bob stood, but Santa took Bob’s hands and he took a knee. Gina said she heard Santa tell the man that he knew others who served, too, and that he was genuinely grateful for his service.

Bob, who has 10 children, 26 grandchildren and more than 26 great-grandchildren, says he was so appreciative of the gesture: "I try to show my appreciation when they do thank me. I thank them for thinking about us."
