Owen Ponto is eleven years old and he loves the outdoors. His mom says they’ve always been an active family – they love to hike and climb together.  Owen’s grandparents both have Parkinson’s, and he thought maybe there was a way to combine his love of the outdoors with the effort to find a cure. So, he organized an event all on his own. He called it Owen’s Climb for a Cure, and participants hiked up a hill where they were met with a catered meal and fun activities.

Owen set a goal of raising $1000, but the event pulled in more than $4000. He says, “Just cause I’m eleven doesn’t mean I can’t do any of this stuff and that Parkinson’s is important and that they can do anything too.”
