It’s scary when someone in your family hurts themselves, especially when you don’t know how bad the injury is. That happened to a family recently when their elderly father took a bad spill at home. They called 911 immediately, and Officer Hernandez, who was in the area when the dispatch came through, was one of the first on the scene. He found the entire family in a panic as they waited to see if their dad was okay. He was still lying there until the EMT crews could check him out and assess how bad the injuries, if there were any, were.
While they checked him out, Officer Hernandez noticed that the family had a piano in the living room, so he asked if he could play them a few songs to kind of calm the mood while they waited. He’s been playing the piano since he was a little kid, and he sat down and played “Don’t Stop Beliving” and “Fly Me to the Moon.”
Once the EMT crews confirmed that the man was okay to get up after his fall, that he hadn’t suffered any major injuries, they went over to the piano and joined in the singing. The little impromptu singalong continued until the family was smiling and laughing and feeling better again after the incident.
