Woman with Cancer Gets Help from Unlikely Source

Nicola Hitchen has been battling stage four cancer for a while, and back in March, the doctors told her that there was nothing else that could be done for her. She has two children, and she couldn’t bear the thought of leaving them behind, so she turned to a chemotherapy center in Turkey, praying that the new treatment would work. And it did! After five sessions, her tumors were shrinking significantly.

The problem, though, was that this treatment was super expensive and Nicola was running out of money. The first round of the treatment by itself was well over $100,000.

This is when someone that would seem pretty unlikely to help stepped up and began a crowdfunding campaign to raise more money for more treatments: it was her ex-husband’s new wife. Clare wrote on the fundraising page, “The boys need their Mum and she deserves the chance to watch them grow into men and have their own families."

At this point, they’re about halfway to their goal.
