“Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, and angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them. “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was with the anger a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

-Luke 2:8-14

The world around us today seems to have forgotten that this passage from the Bible is the true meaning of Christmas. God sent His son down to earth to save us! And like the angels said in their praise to God, to bring peace on earth and goodwill toward men! That is what we’d like to spread this Christmas. Won’t you join us?

This year we are participating in The Giving Manger.

What is The Giving Manger? It is an especially helpful way to teach children to be others-minded during the Christmas season.

There is a manger, a baby Jesus figure, and a whole bunch of hay! Each piece of hay represents an act of kindness. Every day in December leading up to Christmas, we will place a piece of hay in the manger for every act of kindness you submit.

You can create your own family guidelines or download a free calendar of helpful suggestions here. (https://www.thegivingmanger.com/collections/kindness-calendars/products/kindness-calendar-december)

From Dec. 1st, through Dec. 24th at 8:00 PM, we will post a special Giving Manger image on our Facebook page, where you can comment about kindness you spread during that day! If your act of kindness is chosen as our piece of hay to place in the manger, we will send you a special gift!

On Christmas Day, when our manger is full, we will place Jesus in the manger and celebrate the birth of Christ!

Check in with us every Friday to see our manger progress!  To share your progress with us, post on social media with #star991 #givingmanger
